What is it?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD is a compound derived from cannabis with a multitude of medical benefits. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it does not produce the typical "stoned" feeling associated with cannabis. CBD can be administered in many forms depending on the patient's preference (capsules, elixirs, topical creams, etc). The healing properties of CBD are scientifically-proven to provide relief from: inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.
New scientific research has also designated CBD as a viable treatment option for a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, MS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, PTSD, depression, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. In addition to its antinflammatory properties, CBD has demonstrable neuroprotective and neurogenic effects.
How does it work?
Cannabinoids, the CBD molecules, interact directly with the body’s central regulatory system. This is the body system that manages homeostasis and affects processes such as sleep, appetite control, and mood.
CBD is classified as a phytocannabinoid. Although the human body has the ability produce its own endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids are better for kickstarting the body's central regulatory system.
